چکیده
Using the Parkes radio telescope, we have searched for pulsed radio emission from the recently discovered X-ray pulsars AX J1811.5−1926 and PSR J0537−6910 in the supernova remnants G11.2−0.3 and N157B, respectively. We detected no significant pulsed radio emission from these pulsars and have set an upper limit of 0.07 mJy on the 1374 MHz flux from AX J1811.5−1926 and upper limits of 0.18 mJy and 0.06 mJy for the flux from PSR J0537−6910 at 660 MHz and 1374 MHz, respectively. Assuming a power law radio spectral index of 2, these flux limits correspond to luminosity limits at 400 MHz of 20 mJy kpc for AX J1811.5−1926 and 1100 mJy kpc for PSR J0537−6910. Our luminosity limit for AX J1811.5−1926 is lower than the observed luminosities of other young radio pulsars. The upper limit on the luminosity for PSR J0537−6910 in N157B is not significantly constraining due to the large distance to the pulsar. We have also searched for giant radio pulses from both pulsars and have found no convincing candidates.

The Expansion of G11.2−0.3, a Radio Composite Supernova Remnant
We compare recent observations of the supernova remnant G11.2−0.3 taken with the VLA during 2001−02 with images from VLA archives (1984−85) to detect and measure the amount of expansion that has occurred during 17 years. The bright, circular outer shell shows a mean expansion of (0.71± 0.15)% and (0.50±0.17)%, from 20and 6-cm data, respectively, which corresponds to a rate of 0. 057±0. 012/yr a...
متن کاملA New View on Young Pulsars in Supernova Remnants : Slow , Radio - quiet & X - ray Bright
We propose a simple explanation for the apparent dearth of radio pulsars associated with young supernova remnants (SNRs). Recent X-ray observations of young remnants have revealed slowly rotating (P ∼ 10s) central pulsars with pulsed emission above 2 keV, lacking in detectable radio emission. Some of these objects apparently have enormous magnetic fields, evolving in a manner distinct from the ...
متن کاملMeasurement of Spectral Breaks in Pulsar Wind Nebulae with Millimeter-wave Interferometry
We have observed pulsar wind nebulae in the three supernova remnants G11.2−0.3, G16.7+0.1, and G29.7−0.3 at 89 GHz with the Berkeley-Illinois-Maryland Association Array, measuring total flux densities of two of them for comparison with archival data at other frequencies. In G16.7+0.1, we find a break in the spectrum of the PWN at ∼ 26 GHz. In G29.7−0.3, our data suggest a break in the integrate...
متن کاملThe implications of radio - quiet neutron stars
We collate the evidence for rotation-powered neutron stars that are visible as X–ray sources and not as radio pulsars. To date, ten objects have been proposed and one, Geminga, has been confirmed as a pulsar by the detection of 4.2 Hz pulsations. Several indicators have been used to support the proposition that the X–ray sources are isolated neutron stars, including high X–ray to optical/radio ...

We present a high-resolution radio study of the supernova remnant (SNR) G11.2−0.3 using archival VLA data. Spectral tomography is performed to determine the properties of this composite-type SNR’s individual components, which have only recently been distinguished through X-ray observations. Our results indicate that the spectral index of the pulsar wind nebula (PWN), or plerion, is αP = 0.25 +0...
